ESL (English as a Second Language) Content Development
Y.K. Metaforia was commissioned by Thomson Learning (in 2007), and its successor, Cengage Learning (in 2008), to provide content for two textbooks with accompanying CDs. Design Makes the World Go 'Round by Jamie West (pen name of James
Lipson) features reading passages about icons of design and the people who designed them. Branding Success tells inspiring tales of entrepreneurship. Both books offer additional mini-readings & fun dialogs & integrated exercises. West has also composed the exercises for the Japanese ESL edition of Douglas Smith's triviafest, Ever Wonder Why?
Rumiko Varnes's latest work, Koibito-tachi no ei-kaiwa (English for Lovers), was published by Kōgakusha in 2007 and includes dialogs available on iTunes.
